The Viscount Cultural Centre is extending an invitation to artists and artisans to submit entries of their recent work to be exhibited in the Manawaka Gallery for our 2013 season.

OPEN SPACE
Call for Proposals!

The Viscount Cultural Centre for the arts is looking for proposals for unique activities/shows for our new "Open Space" series.

We sometimes have days or weeks in between shows when the space is empty but full of creative opportunity. Open Space will be a series of activities/events/shows which are pre-developed and pre-planned but spontaneous and elastic in schedule.Help us create something fun, interactive and informal - we welcome bright new ideas that challenge and play with the conventional ideas of art shows and exhibitions. Submissions that are the most unconventional in format and spirit to traditional art shows and exhibitions will be given top consideration.

Here are some of the ideal qualities we are looking for in your proposal
• Easy to setup and breakdown
• Works as an activity/event/performance and finished product
• Encourages people to get involved, have fun, participate and play

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
• First, and Last name
• Low res jpgs of your work (Maximum 4 images) / URL's with your work/Description and photos (if available) of past activities and events
• Phone number
• Any special requirements if applicable

There is no deadline for Open Space proposals, but please send in your ideas ASAP we're looking forward to hearing from you!

Upcoming Special Exhibitions

HANDS ON 2012

Hands On is our annual showcase of local arts and crafts. Whether you are a seasoned artist or whether you have never shown anyone your talents before, you are welcome to submit up to three pieces of art, in any medium, to the exhibition. Submissions must be received by June 20.
