I was enjoying a fun time at the park with friends when I saw how perfect the sunset was reflecting off the clouds shading the swings in black. I felt this was the best way to capture one of my favourite memories of going to the elementary school. The best memory I have of the swings is when you get swinging higher and close your eyes you can just imagine you’re flying through the air. That’s what I see in this image.

I wanted to capture the playful memories that grew over time. Even today we still go back to the park and act like we’re kids when we’re there. With my friend’s hand reaching out to the camera it adds more depth to the photo. With a splash of color in the shoes it adds more contrast to the photo while the action of swinging on the bars above adds more flair and action.

When I took this photo I wanted to capture the essence of the old style look of the buildings in Neepawa’s downtown area. I captured the picture upside down because it gives it a different perspective of the street and buildings. When I look at this photo I see the beauty and the heritage of Neepawa all at once.

I like how the Roxy isn’t another mass production/chain development. It’s a place we can call our own. I think now could not be a better time to show how much it means to not only myself, but to this community.

I tried to show the rustic side of this town. There isn’t just one, but many heritage buildings throughout Neepawa. “Keep the country, country.”

I find this piece amazing because it was hand carved by my Poppy and it is a piece of my heritage.

It is awesome to be able to have nature, like this tree in my back yard, so close to your home.

I love the snow, especially when it is falling past my window. Not everyone gets to experience things like this.

This road leads to the community garden. It is great that we have a space where people can grow their own garden when they don’t have their own yard.

What could we do to make this old space new? Some of our spaces need to be improved and made to look better.

Midday Feast

I anticipated the feeding time and I went and took some photos of the cattle. I wanted to get the cows’ faces as the grain was pouring out.

Following Father’s Footsteps

I really wanted to get this father and son photo. It shows the importance of family and working together.

Seasonal Effects

Our Manitoba seasons take a big toll on our roads, and this one needs improving.

This picture I took on Mountain Avenue is of the night when the sky and the ground have a similar colour. When I came to Canada, I noticed that the night and early morning landscapes are very beautiful with colours.

This picture is of the flats from the Banana Hill. At the flats everybody can go and play a game of hockey or skate and befriend each other.

When the snow was melting on the riverbanks, it shows that spring is coming. The picture is a faint red from the sun, and that faint sun is melting the ice. The bushes make the sky and the ground come together.

I like that I have a place where I can just escape from the world and just be close to nature. Here, I can be myself.

I’ve curled since I was 6 or 7 and it has become a huge part of my life. I love this sport and I’m glad to have an opportunity to play it so close to home.

I hate when so much snow hangs over my back door and nearly falls on you every time you open it.

This picture of my hand is important because it shows that I love someone. It is important to have friends and family to love and love you back.

This picture of me at the door of my school shows how much I like to go there and I like the friends I see there.
